A Brevet Populaire event offering a 52km mix of 76% tarmac and 23% gravel surfaces including a crossing of the famous Cotton Famine Road above Rochdale as well as 1x AAA point. It has a minimum speed of just 10kph you may well need it. If you want something more challenging there is also the 100km Cotton Famine Challenge route starting an hour earlier.
WARNING a MTB or gravel bike is ideal for this route while a road bike is not a sensible choice unless you plan to carry it for long sections. Road legal ebikes can also be used but MUST be declared on entry and a completed event will not count towards AUK awards or accrue AUK points.
A lovely cafe start from Hollingworth Lake near Milnrow and a postal or EBrevet upload finish. Paid car park adjacent to café. Fantastic views but obviously very remote in places. Make sure you are carrying spares, repairs and appropriate clothing, a fully charged mobile phone and someone knows your planned route and expected finish time.
A sew on participation badge included in the paltry £8.00 entry fee and the event counts towards the Peak Audax PARTY badge. Entry numbers are capped so please dont dither.
