Gravel ride.
A Brevet Populaire event offering a 104km mix of 83% tarmac and 17% gravel surfaces including a crossing of the famous Cotton Famine Road above Rochdale as well as 2.25x AAA points. It has a minimum speed of just 12kph and you may well need it. If you want something less challenging there is also the 50km Rooley Moor Roughstuff route starting an hour earlier.
WARNING a MTB or gravel bike is ideal for this route while a road bike is not a sensible choice unless you plan to carry it for long sections. Road legal ebikes can also be used but MUST be declared on entry and a completed event will not count towards AUK awards or accrue AUK points.
A lovely cafe start from Hollingsworth Lake near Milnrow and a postal or EBrevet upload finish. Paid car park adjacent to café. Fantastic views but obviously very remote in places. Make sure you are carrying spares, repairs and appropriate clothing, a fully charged mobile phone and someone knows your planned route and expected finish time.
A sew on participation badge included in the paltry £8.00 entry fee and the event counts towards the Peak Audax PARTY badge. Entry numbers are capped so please dont dither.
