Accompanying event to the Pendle Witch Trial 200. Anticlockwise route from Lancaster. Shorter and slower but still fairly lumpy.
It may be shorter than The Pendle Witch Trial 200, which it accompanies, but this route has much to challenge and enjoy. Large areas of remote and exposed moorland are still included, so please make sure you and your bicycle are adequately prepared.
After a breakfast provided at the start, head south from Lancaster for a pull over Oakenclough to Longridge, where there will be a free control including the option of cafe stop if you wish. From here follow a quiet route through Ribchester & Whalley, pass Sabden and then thru Newchurch-in-Pendle to the second control at Barley for a cafe/control. Just over halfway here and a bit of climb next so make sure you are well rested and refreshed before the return leg.
At the top of Pendle Hill rejoin the longer route at 64km for the cracking descent to Chatburn before deviating again to the third cafe/control at Slaidburn then back to the start via the Trough of Bowland for a nice Chilli supper.
